Badly dated but still an entertaining WW2 PC game November 2, 2004 Dave (Tennessee United States) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I've had this game for years & I can tell you that compared with current 1st person shooter games the graphics are terrible! Still, the game's missions are fun. There are two campaigns: D-Day, & Normandy after the invasion. There are several levels with both campaigns & each level gets increasingly hard. Personally, I prefer the Normandy campaign because your player is a paratrooper of the 101st Airborne! There are a variety of weapons that you can get as the game progresses, a Thompson Submachine gun, Browning Automatic Rifle, two Colt .45 pistols (one for each hand!), a sniper rifle, a bazooka, grenades, a flamethrower (not very reliable), mines (use with caution!!!), and a captured German MP40 submachine gun. While these weapons are nice, the AI are ridiculous. For example, in the D-Day level 1 the American troops walk calmly towards the German bunkers & are promptly mowed down by machine gun fire! There's a great level where you have to defend a small outpost against a German infantry attack. All you have to do is stand behind a stone wall & gun 'em down! The enemy soldiers are generally stupid except for the SS troops which actually come looking for you in a couple of levels! Plus, there are nasty German snipers hiding in the buildings that are sometimes hard to spot. The worst obstacles are the German tanks. Although they don't move at all they fire with deadly accuracy. Even though it is totally unrealistic, you can destroy them in the game by firing at them point-blank with a bazooka. Overall, I'd say this is decent for its time & is well worth playing if you can overlook the awful graphics & other flaws!
