Product Description Grab that sword and start swinging, as THE SCORPION KING arrives as a next-generation gaming adventure. Play as Mathayus, you'll try to get all the way across Egypt to stop a tyrannical lord from hatching a world-domination plot. In order to succeed, you'll have to fight through pyramids, cross great deserts, and much more. Your enemies range from humans to animals to the elements. The story of the game takes place after the plot of the movie THE SCORPION KING, though the Rock is the starring figure in both.
Amazon.com Product Description This 3-D combat adventure chronicles the future Scorpion King's first adventure, a long and arduous quest to thwart an evil lord's diabolical plan to raise a supernatural army of beast-warriors to conquer the world. Players will wield multiple attack combinations against enemies. The action takes place in breathtaking vistas of ancient Egypt. The story shapes up as a prequel to the Scorpion King movie, in which World Wrestling Federation superstar the Rock plays hired assassin Mathayus, better known as the Scorpion King.

Repetitive, Repetitive, Repetitive June 9, 2005 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
At first it was ok. You got to be the scorpion king and learn to kick bad guy butt while also dishing out insults. I would enjoy it because you would get weapons such as swords and daggers. You'd then battle "ancient evils" in the name of good. These ancient evils would be evil gods and monsters, and their minions would be men, snakes, and dogs (rabid dogs, not puppies). What I didn't like about this game was that the last level was just like the first. You always had the same weapons, techniques, and the minions would always act the same! They all just staggered back when they died and always seemed to come out of nowhere! Then the bosses weren't even historically accurate, and it didn't take a historian to figure that out! The fist boss was Anubus and another was medusa, so the creators just threw in some Greek gods with the Egyptian ones! So to sum it up: OK: The graphics (on a scale of 1 to ten; 4) The music (it was ok, but not awe in spiring) BAD: The weapons (there were only four different kinds, and one type of shield) The bosses (Egyptian and Greek Gods DON'T mix!) The levels (the same thing over and over) The minions (they always acted the same, like they just had different skins or something)
I wouldn't recommend buying this game for someone with experience, but if you just got a gamecube and the price is right ($5 or less) then maybe consider it.
Dissapointing July 4, 2004 German (Phoenix, AZ, USA) 3 out of 5 found this review helpful
The game is simply monotomous, meaning that you do the same thing over and over in the whole game: you enter a room, kill everyone, the door unlocks, you go through it, you enter a new room, kill everyone, the door unlocks, etc etc. There is no fun in that.

Fun change of pace. September 13, 2003 Jasyn A. Rigdon (Stafford, VA) 5 out of 5 found this review helpful
This is by any means not in contention to be a Game of the Year, still I found it a fun distraction game. Unlike some of the reviewers, I have actually played the game (and no I'm not trying to sell a copy). This is the type of game that the average gamer will beat in a day or two, so you might want to rent before your buy. Because of it's bargain used price range I went ahead and took a chance on buying it.
The Scorpion King has graphics that could be compared to a great PSOne title quality. I thought the level maps looked good, but were small and character movement is the old, slightly jerky motion with moderately detailed models. This game is a button mashing fighting adventure that tries to make use of an average combo using, combat system. Enemy AI is moderate and serves it's purpose, groups of enemies strike in mass. Enemies vary from swordsmen, guard dogs, giants (the average NBA player), to trolls and archers. The bosses look pretty good in this game and require alittle puzzle solving to defeat (like your average Zelda boss). I find it to be a fun change of pace from some of my more intense games. It's not great but it's worth atleast a weekend rent.
