Editorial Reviews:

Product Description
Joint Operations: Typhoon Rising is base on the premise that in the near future Indonesia will factionalise. You play as either as a separatist or part of the Joint Force team sent in to restore order. One of the most populated countries in the world is disintegrating. Regional independence movements have acquired advanced weaponry as the nation's military splits into competing factions. Escalating violence threatens innocent civilians and Western economic interests. The missions are dangerous;

5 out of 5 stars Fantastic   February 13, 2008

Playing this online against dozens of humans, or in co-op against AI missions, this game is just tons of fun, and very high quality. Sure AI is a little stupid, but how else can you down 160 enemies, just you and your buddy -oh, and blow up their radar stations while you're there.

I just want to let you know i think this is the funnest game, well not funnest but one of the funnest games. i just have the demo and i might get the game for my birthday or christmas. you can drive a humvee jump out of a helicopter, yet if you do it just right you won't get chopped up into little pieces.

1 out of 5 stars We are still waiting for the game to be sent to the house.   May 14, 2006

This is taking so long just to get to our house it's not funny I will never buy anything from this company again. It's now going on two months FROM THE TIME I put in the order and my son is very disappointed that he has to wait so long. They sent him the second half of the game so he can't play it until the first half gets here. That is why we are so upset with this company. And I was told that they would sent it over night which they didn't. So I would think twice before anyone else should order anything from this company. There all lies just to get you to buy from them.

2 out of 5 stars Good but buggy and frequented by vegetables...   August 17, 2005

When people work together in this game it works really well and is quite enjoyable. However most of the time it consists of random conflict where noone listens or wants to use any strategy or as the title suggests "Joint Operations" ie combined arms warfare. Instead they treat it as a shoot-em-up and run around like headless chicken causing games to drag out and become infuriating as well as extremely boring. The unrealistic movement becomes almost nauseating: players frequently move and jump around ridiculously to avoid enemy fire...there is no "stamina" level to prevent this. The vehicle physics are appallingly bad (probably the worst I've ever encountered) and the vehicles themselves are not survivable (apart from APCs which are almost impossible to destroy with heavy machinguns but not rockets). Weaponry is not much use either. For example the Barrett M82 was designed to take out enemy APCs etc, yet in the game it can't destroy anything apart from soldiers.
Within a week of playing this you will be cursing "noob base-rapers" and "campers". The level of stupidity displayed by people is sometimes appalling...new players will simply NOT work together period. There is no in-game device to ensure teamwork so they make it an incredibly frustrating experience. With a good team which works together the game is great but the buggy physics, pathetic vehicles, and unrealistic weaponary RUIN it.

4 out of 5 stars Strong 4, weak 5   April 18, 2005

If you have bad internet connection, don't get it. If you like to drive vehicles or play in a huge 150-player war and have good interet connection, get it. Slightly better than B:1942. As simple as that.
