Tries to make a fast buck off of a pioneering video game. November 21, 2004 Brett Johnson (Phoenix, AZ - USA) 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
This game really doesn't deserve any time wasted talking about it, but so far nobody has given it the one star review it deserves so I guess it is up to me. It's supposed to be a tribute/modern update of the classic video game "Space Invaders". Instead, it insults the Atari gaming staple and it is both simpler and more boring than the game it is based on.
In the 21st century, we need video games with a bit more complexity than what we're offered here. You stand at the bottom of the screen and strafe back and forth while shooting at the alien hordes in front of you. Fascinating. Is the game easy? Yup, it only takes around two hours to beat! What is the point of the game? Well...to make money off of a clueless public hungry for a piece of their video gaming youth I suppose. Don't fall for it. This would be okay as a freebie on the Internet or maybe for a couple of bucks to play on your cell phone. Just don't spend any money purchasing it for your GameCube because you'll be regretting it the very next day.
Good old fashion fun! June 16, 2004 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
Okay, if you are looking for a challenge, then this isn't the game for you. But, if you are looking to have some fun then this is a great game to own, especially for the price. The old arcade style action shooter brings back great gaming memories. The game is easy to beat, and the story is TOTALLY cheesy, but the graphics are nice and the gameplay is really fun. A downside to the game is that it doesn't have 2 player in story mode, which I thought was pretty lame. Overall, I am pleased with Space Raiders.
Brings back old memories! Fun but not a "must have" game. May 9, 2004 Jasyn A. Rigdon (Stafford, VA) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
This is a modern game for fans of the old Centipede and Zaxxon arcade shooters. Characters can only move left or right across the bottom of the screen shooting and throwing grenades at many types of aliens and zombies. At the end of each level you fight a giant boss, like in Contra. The graphics are great but the voice acting and storyline sucks. If you liked the old-school arcade shooters, you'll find this to be fun!
Nintendo Power April 27, 2004 1 out of 10 found this review helpful
Just today I recieved my Nintendo Power and it had a big article about this game. I never even heard of the game but since it's exclusive it has to be a must see. Next week I am going to be buying this game and I will write a review of it on here so everyone can know what it is like. It actually doesn't look half bad by the screens.
