In Chromehounds, three nations with opposing political views have erupted in an all-out war. From the cockpit of a giant metal "HOUND", you must power your tower of heavy artillery through giant war zones while backing five others on your squad and dodging the firepower of six other live players via Xbox Live. One team member will be elected Tactics Commander and lead the team through the fray via voice commands. You are responsible for arming and customizing your massive mechanized weapon, but overload it and you would not get very far. Your teams' successful completion of missions will open up valuable new items that will bring you all that much closer to victory. Chromehounds also offers numerous single-player missions, plus training modes for team combat and HOUND control familiarization.

 WARNING! The servers are closed! Do not buy this! August 18, 2010

The servers for this game have been taken down. The single player mode is little more than a tutorial for the online multiplayer. With the servers down you cannot play multiplayer. So essentially this game is unplayable. If you buy the disk you will be buying little more than a demo.

Sadly, this was an acceptable game with many flaws that was sort of fun. Until they crippled it completely by shutting down the servers. Now it's completely unplayable. You cannot even use the mechs you built with online parts because now all your parts are gone. You can't play with friends, because there is are no servers. You can't even host your own game because they didn't think that far ahead. You can't get 1000 gamer points because there is no online service.
It was maybe 2.5 stars before. I'd give it 0 stars if I could

As of Jan 6th, 2010, all online content has been shut down. All that is avalible is the single player campaign wich is only a very long tutorial for playing the online portion, which of course is no longer avalible. This was my favorite game of all time, but now it is worthless without the online multiplayer.

I will go on record as saying that Chromehounds is THE BEST game of all Time...In my opinion as well as others I play online with, say the very same thing...This game is splashed all over youtube and Sega forums for all to see and enjoy...I am hoping for a sequel to come out soon! Buy this game and you'll enjoy every bit of it as I have for almost three years now!!! You Mechwarrior fans will definately enjoy this game because of the sound affects and visual weapon affects as well as hound builds and the enormous amount customizations of hound building...! It's absolutely a wonderful game and have been recommending it since June of 2006...!Enjoy...!

To be completely honest, I Purchased this game because I loved the Mech Warrior games. Seeing as this was the closest thing to those games on the 360, I decided to give it a shot.
I personally enjoyed this game quite a bit, though it has a pretty steep difficulty curve. If you have played any of the Mech Warrior games this should not be too different for you. The gameplay is basically the same, though slower than the Mech Warrior series. You basically play a mercenary mech (or HOUND in chromehounds) pilot for three different nations in the game's storyline (which takes place in an alternate reality 2006). The story itself is pretty sparse, though what there is is pretty interesting.
Graphics-wise this game is about on-par with most Xbox 360 games. The mech models are pretty well done but the rest of the game looks pretty boring and average.
The online component of Chromehounds is (from what i have heard, as i have not yet tried it) apparently very good. Basically you join a nation (through different campaigns) and fight for it against players of other nations, gaining money to upgrade your mech, etc. From what I understand (again I have not played the online component of the game yet) the only drawback is that there are not many people playing this game anymore online (which is to be expected for a game that came out in 2006).
Overall I would say that this game would be worth it for anyone who liked the classic Mech Warrior series, or anyone who wants to blow things up with a giant mech!
My Ratings: (out of 10, with 10 being the highest)
Gameplay: 8.0 (controls could be tighter and can be slow, but overall fun)
Graphics: 7.5 (Average except for mech models, which are nicely detailed)
Audio: 6.5 (completely average and repetitive, save a song or two)
replayablilty: 9.0 (multiplayer is why this rating is as high as it is)
Story: 7.5 (not really that much, but what there is is interesting)
Final Score: 7.3 (Fun if you like these types of games, though you might be put off by the slow pace of this game)
