Editorial Reviews:

From the Manufacturer
When One Man Is Not Enough…

It will take an Army of Two to stop the corruption of rogue private military corporations. Fight along side your team-mate to become the deadliest two-man military outfit a government can buy. The breakthrough gameplay in Army of Two, with a live or adaptive AI partner, enables you to take advantage of two-man strategies like customizable weapons, vehicles, and tactical shooting. If you're going to survive, you'll have to bring down a vast conspiracy in which the line between `good guys' and `bad guys' has been obliterated.

FEATURES

  • Two-Man Gameplay—Co-op is no longer a mode, it's the game. Team up with a live or AI partner on two-man missions using two-man tactics to ultimately create an advantage that no enemy can withstand.
  • Partner AI—Army of Two delivers intelligent partner AI (PAI) that interacts with, adapts to, collaborates with, and learns from its human partner. The PAI also reacts and adjusts to your ability and how you play the game by taking the lead or following, driving strategy or taking orders. It is the dream of the human machine.
  • Customizable Weapons—Personalize and upgrade dozens of deadly weapons and share them with your partner off- or online.
  • Dynamic Environments—EA's Montreal studio pulled out all the stops to deliver realistic character and environmental effects including fluid dynamics that showcase open-ocean water-wave simulation as well as High Dynamic Range (HDR) lighting.
  • Contemporary Storyline Ripped from the Headlines—Army of Two draws you in with a captivating, politically charged storyline, centering on the impact and ethical issues of private military corporations.
  • Online Gameplay—Army of Two redefines two-man online gameplay as you progress through the game seamlessly moving between PAI and live players.

4 out of 5 stars Army of Awsome   May 17, 2010
Nikki A. Verschueren (Tennesse)
Army of Two was surprisingly a whole lot better than I had thought it would be. I originally wasn't much for FPS games, but after Gears of War, it was game over. Now I can't get enough. And I certainly can't wait to play the second game. The only thing that I have to complain about in this game is that the AI in this game is absolutely HORRIBLE! Pretty much, the game centers on two mercenaries (hence the name), at the beginning of the game, you choose between playing as Tyson Rios or Elliot Salem. Whomever you don't choose is obviously the other player controlled by AI. Whenever you get knocked out, the other player has to drag you to safety before healing you. Sensible enough. Except when your partner is draggin you around in a circle for about five minute straight. Or when you're in a particularly difficult fire fight on the last level, only to look back and wonder, "Where the hell is the other guy?" He's been running straight against a wall for the last five minutes, that's where. Moral of the story, kids, if you're gonna get this game, please play with a real person instead of the XBox/PS3.

3 out of 5 stars Not Gears   May 10, 2010
J. Jones (BK-AUG USA)
For some reason I thought this would be like gears of war, you know another third person shooter(which I love). This is not gears which is okay I guess, but be warned this game is pretty complex especially the controller scheme. Still overall pretty cool game.

5 out of 5 stars Solid, Underrated Shooter   April 6, 2010
Justin B (New Orleans, LA)
I picked up this game used for $13 on a hunch. I was pleasantly surprised with how good the game was. It is very much the same gameplay as in Gears of War (ie hide behind a wall, shoot, repeat.) Its not the same game/gameplay as your call of dutys. Replay value is so so. There are optional side missions you can do to earn more money throughout the game. At different times during the game you can buy and upgrade to bigger and better guns, different masks, etc. DLC is available and you can get a new level for free off of XBOX live marketplace. That's a good thing because my biggest complaint was that the game was too short. The characters are interesting. The masks they wear have their own cult following. The cut scenes are also well done, the one after the first mission is excellent. Overall this is an underrated game. Nothing Earth-shattering here but most definitely worth adding to any 360 collection.

4 out of 5 stars Good multiplayer game   March 13, 2010
Charles D. (Arizona)
It is one of the best co op games out there. Definitely a good buy since the price is low. The game is mostly built on multiplayer, and you have the choice to play the campaign by yourself, with a friend, or with a friend ove Xbox Live. The campaign is
pretty good. The campaign lasted about 15-20, since my friend stunk at the game haha. This game is mostly built for multiplayer, with all the back to back and sniping missions you do. The only thing I don't like about this game is that the online multiplayer is good. It is really boring but at the price right now it is worth paying it for just the campaign.

5 out of 5 stars 2 is definitely better than One   February 1, 2010
Gregory Jaurigue (Chicago, IL)
This game rocks from a 2 player co-op perspective as the whole game emphasizes this point. The graphics are really good and the gameplay is like all shooter games, but you are now forced to work as a 2 unit team where the gameplay mechanics require cooperation and teamwork of both players. I like that this game attempts to add a new spin on the shooter mechanics and it's a much welcome change. I definitely recommend this game to those out there looking to have a game where they can work with a friend to go through the missions.
