4 out of 5 stars Great CQB Team Shooter   August 8, 2008
Mikeltxu (Spain)
Looks like Ubi did not put too much effort on the visual design, and maps are usually small and inside buildings. However, teambased online gameplay is great and emphasizes on simulation detail. E.g. different weapons and ammo provide different results, tactics help. Nice one.

2 out of 5 stars A big let down   June 8, 2008
Craig (NY)
I found the first Rainbow Six Vegas to be much better than this one. RSV2 seemed like a mediocre expansion pack as opposed to a sequel. I expected to see more of Vegas throughout the game. Aside from the nightclub, one casino floor, and portions of the convention center, the locations were boring and bland. There are more graphical options in this one than in the first (can enable AA, etc) however that doesn't make up for it's shortcomings. It's also a shorter game than RSV1, and in certain areas you can tell they increased the difficulty in an attempt to extend the gameplay (since everytime you get killed, you have to start over from a checkpoint which can get maddening.) If you haven't played the first Rainbow Six Vegas yet, get that one instead- much more variety, better locations, and more fun in general.

5 out of 5 stars Good game but only if less than 30 bucks   May 27, 2008

Well, it is a good game with nice graphic. Fun game play fast action. Enough maps to choose for multiplayer. Easy control, even I played with my kids thru LAN. The new game cost $ 49.99 but now dropped down to 29.99. Good buy. I got mine from ebay with 19.99 + shipping. about 24 bucks used. As I mentioned, you should buy this game if it dropped cheaper than 30 bucks. You won't disappointed, believe me !

3 out of 5 stars Screams unfinished.   May 23, 2008

I really wanted to like this game. I was really hoping this was going to be a more polished version of Vegas 1. Instead the game seems to have started that way but was pushed out the door long before completion.

The story mode seems to feature more attention to detail than the rest of the game. Multi-player story mode is fairly nice as far as the maps and the gameplay. I really wish they had not trimmed it down to just 2 players in that mode. The AI teammates controlled by player 1, are not incredibly useful other than to act as cannon fodder, luring out bots that have phenomenal accuracy and psychic tracking abilities. The overall storyline is quite forgettable IMHO.

Other gametypes are hindered. Terrorist Hunt has numerous issues. The way the bots 'spawn' in is downright hideous at times. Features have been taken from the control of the player such as the number of respawns. There are countless bugs in the game some major, and many minor. They scream "unfinished" or "hastily slapped together" and it is my belief that this game was released before it was completed. These hinder what would otherwise be a very fun installment of Vegas.

5 out of 5 stars Great game   May 23, 2008

Once again, I cannot believe the disappointing reviews given for this game. You have the right PC, and all the right equipment, the game works great. I usually only play story mode. And I have found no major issues with it. Very few issues, major or minor. Really only one or two. Mike and Jung keep getting stuck in certain spots of the game. You have to go back and push them around to make them come back with you. But, this problem occurs very rarely and only in one or two areas of the game.

As far the story goes, two things puzzle me. Mike and Jung join Logan after they storm the theater with Bishop. Gabe disguises himself as an NSA agent and misleads Bishop all the way in the train yard. This happens on July 3rd - the same day when Logan, Mike and Walter go to rescue Gabriel from Dante's Casino. The time span is very small - Gabriel sure travels extremely fast between the two locations. And I guess we have to assume that Bishop was unconscious for a really long time after he was knocked out at the train yard. If not, Bishop would have already informed Logan about Gabe being a traitor, before they hit Nevada. This part of the story is really confusing.

While I believe it's a great idea to have your design your own character in the game and while I believe that it was thoughtful of the creators to allow female rainbow fans to choose a female character as the lead, I seriously think Vegas 2 needed more of Logan than anybody else. Or alternatively, they could have made it look like Chavez was back in the field temporarily in a time of crisis. A new Bishop character was both unnecessary and unrealistic, when viewed in light of the previous rainbow stories.

It is also unimaginable to see Logan playing such a small role towards the end after he took down a major character in the previous game (Irena). I don't know if this is the actual Tom Clancy story or not. So, I am not qualified to comment on the story.

But, overall, the game is great. None of what I mentioned is sufficient enough to warrant a rating less than five stars. Graphics are excellent, far less difficult than Vegas 1, which may or may not be a good thing. Music fit the levels and situations perfectly!
