Product Description 360 Raiden Fighters: Aces
Amazon.com Product Description
Raiden Fighters, Raiden Fighters 2, and Raiden Fighters Jet; the names are familiar to any gamer. Back in the day these legendary arcade cabinets came to symbolize extreme difficulty, never-ending secrets, and the resultant devastating loss of quarter-based wealth. All three games have now been recreated and enhanced with new features on Xbox 360 for the ultimate collection, Raiden Fighters Aces. Attack enemies in the air. View larger. | Or on the ground. View larger. | Old school vertical scrolling option. View larger. | Action in this new compilation is just as you remember it, yet also a little different. Players can now practice any stage of any game in the incredibly configurable Training Mode. You can also rotate the gameplay, or rotate your entire display to play full screen. And finally, when the battle is won you can post high scores and gameclips to Xbox LIVE for all the world to see. The Games
Raiden Fighters Originally released in 1996, Raiden Fighters features seven levels that make up the game's three missions. Within these players will have access to eight different fighter craft. Raiden Fighters 2 Originally released in 1997, the action in Raiden Fighters 2 is set four years after the events of the first game. Here players utilize seven standard fighters as well as several unlockable aircraft. Raiden Fighters Jet Originally released in 1998, Raiden Fighters Jet contains most of the aircraft from Raiden Fighters 2 and also features updates to the medals and scoring system. Gameplay The games within the Raiden Fighters franchise are vertical scrolling air combat shooters. That is, although an update to the original games of this compilation allow players to flip the playing area horizontally for a full screen effect, the standard vertical orientation of the action reflects the upright nature of the arcade machines that they were originally designed for. Combat within the games consists of multiple stages, which make up the games' missions. Within these missions players have use of a variety of aircraft which they use to attack targets both in the air and on the ground. Each aircraft depending on the game played, features a selection of weapon options including standard firepower along the line of missiles, lasers and bombs. Aircraft also possess different charged/special attacks, some of which are exclusive to multiplayer games. Players receive points for success in taking out mission identified targets as well as collecting bonus items known as "medals" that appear on the gameplay area. Key Features: - All three Raiden Fighters games on one disc.
- Training mode, with slow-motion, level selection, and ship configuration.
- Leaderboards and gameclips for online and offline play.
- Two-player cooperative offline play.
- Standard vertical scrolling, full-screen side-scrolling, or full-screen vertical scrolling on a rotated display.
- Visual filters to simulate classic display-types, or change the feel of the game.
- An Xbox 360 exclusive containing 32 Xbox LIVE achievements and 1,000 gamer points

Fun Shooter May 31, 2010 F. Guzman This shooter is a great value for it's price. The biggest flaws is that the three games included are very similar to each other. Seriously, it seems like each game is just the same five levels but with different ships. Also, the games lacks online co-op but you won't miss it so much since the local co-op is a lot of fun. Other than that the game is an excellent shooter, with visual that you come to expect from a Japanese shooter.
Oh the memories April 22, 2010 MinK (San Francisco, CA USA) I cannot stop playing. This is for people who used to play the games in the arcades when you were little. Not for kids these days. It just brings back those great memories, taking quarters from your mom's purse to play again and again.
Great Addicting Game April 17, 2010 Ray Lance Atty (Kansas City, MO USA) I have to say that Raiden Fighters Aces is an very addicting game!!! For under 20 dollars, you get three games in one: Raiden Fighters, Raiden Fighters 2 and Raiden Fighters Jet. They add Xbox Live to each Raiden Fighters game which I love because I can post my best scores so everybody can see. I love the different game modes they have on each game like Boss Rush, Expert, Full Run, etc. There is also an two-player cooperative play offline. Overall, I am extremely satisfied with this game!!! If you have not play this game yet, buy it and you too will get addicted to this!!!!
Great Games, Amazing Value March 9, 2010 Dustin W. E. Morrison 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
First of all, let me say that I'm not a die hard arcade-style gamer. I enjoy a wide variety of games, but I've never gotten huge into these types of games. Raiden Fighters Aces is a great collection to own. I've only put about 4 hours into this so far, completing Raiden Fighters and Raiden Fighters 2 on a couple of different difficulties.
The visuals are awesome. The mid-90s hand drawn sprites look great in HD and they are quite impressive given the time they were conceived.
The sound is pretty great with the extremely fast techno songs. And the weapons and explosions sound incredible.
The gameplay is fast-paced and a whole lot of fun. The first two games of the series are fairly short, but the replay value makes you forget they are short. There are a handful of game modes and multiple difficulties to keep you coming back to beat your high scores.
You'll get a lot of hours of gameplay out of this collection, especially for the price.
Very good port of a very good game December 29, 2009 chunky monkey (CA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I found no problems with this game that would make me give it less than 5 stars.
You get to choose one of three games on one disk. Raiden 1,2,3.
Each game offers tons of planes.
The screen is as customizable as possible. You cannot stretch these images as far as your widescreen because its a port from arcades.
