Very Disappointed! January 7, 2009 C. H. Babb (Moore, SC) System quit working one day after my daughter opened it at Christmas. When it did work the sound quality was very poor. I purchased the Philips DC199B/37, it is great! The best part is that Amazon refunded my money, so as always I am a satisfied Amazon customer.
Great Product. December 16, 2008 Patricia Brouillette (Fort Drum, NY United States) This is everything that I was looking for. I can listen and fall asleep to the radio, cd, or Ipod, and put any of them on a sleep timer. Comes with the dock adapter of 6 different ipods/nanos so if you have an old one, new one, or lost the dock adapter that came with your ipod, there is most likely one that will fit your ipod. The only downfall is you have to make sure the remote is pointing at the system just right, but I don't usually find that as a problem. For what it does and the price it is a great product. I have seen smaller products that don't do as much and don't have remotes that cost a lot more. It is great if you don't need anything fancy.
Buyer Beware December 12, 2008 Meagan Church (South Bend, IN) I bought this item as an answer to unreliable CD players I had struggled with. Having burned through a few, I wanted something with an iPod dock. Unfortunately the docking system became finicky and finally got to the point where it would charge the iPod, but wouldn't play it. So when I tried to use the CD player, it became difficult to use, not wanting to read disks all the time and the repeat function wouldn't work. I have requested a replacement unit, but doubt the new unit will be any better. Of course the price lured me in, but clearly you get what you pay for.
It's Ok December 7, 2008 GBM (Vzla) The sound is good, and the size is perfect because isn't to big or to small; I really like.
Use This For Your iPod/Touch/iPhone/3G, Not For The CD Player! October 2, 2008 Watcher The iLive Home Music System works very well with the iPod Touch or the iPhone 3G. However, as was stated by another reviewer, do not purchase this for CD playback capability. The CD plays intermittently if at all whether it's a regular audio CD or a burned CD. I have been unable to get an MP3 CD to play at all on this unit. Luckily I didn't purchase it for it's CD playback as I owned an iPod Touch at the time and I needed it specifically for its moderately sounding loudspeakers. The speakers are detachable and sound pretty good for the amount of money the system costs. I would have to recommend this unit over those that cost several times the price of this one ONLY if you're going to use it for Apple's iPod, iPod Touch, iPhone or iPhone 3G models.
Though the dock works, I would recommend using the Auxillary input (AUX) to play an iPhone, iPhone 3G or an iPod Touch. When you use the dock you are unable to effectively navigate and control the playback and songs satisfactorily due to the operations being controlled by the iLive Home Music System. However, with the AUX input, you will be able to navigate your music player as you normally would. It is this reason that I hook my iPhone 3G up to my car stereo through AUX and not the actual dock or USB connector. It allows you much more flexibility because you're not locked into or limited by the external system's interface.
