We purchased this for our 9 year old daughter who was getting an iPod nano for Christmas. It offers good protection, but it has to be removed everytime you want to sync it or put it on the dock to use the speakers we have. There are openings on the bottom of the case to access the hold switch and the headphones port, but it covers the dock port! Why?! This is somewhat problematic because the case actually comes in 2 pieces: a clear sheet of plastic that covers the entire face of the ipod, and the thick plastic case itself. I am concerned that my daughter will be losing the front face plate one of these times she uses it on the speaker dock.
Honestly, it really is a good product. It is an extra step to have to remove it frequently, but in its defense, it is very simple to remove and put back on.
