Editorial Reviews:

Product Description
The large handle feels comfortable in your hand as you stir and serve. Wood is gentle on ceramics, non-stick cookware and glass. It is also warmly beautiful and naturally heat resistant.

Amazon.com Review
Despite all the bright-colored, high-tech silicone kitchen utensils out these days, there's nothing quite like the good old-fashioned feel of wood for cooking needs. Crafted from solid beech wood, this strong 12-1/2-inch spoon is ideal for stirring thick stews or mixing oatmeal chocolate chip cookie dough. A natural oil finish protects the wooden spoon without contaminating food, and the give of wood means the spoon is safe for nonstick cookware.

True to OXO's creed of designing products that are easy to use for the widest range of users, the handle, which is flat on top and sensuously curved underneath, comfortably fits the hand. A hole in the end allows the spoon to hang where it's most needed. Set in a crock, the spoon forms a handsome bouquet with OXO's other wooden utensils, such as a larger spoon, slotted spoons, a pancake turner, and a spaghetti server. Wooden utensils are best washed by hand. OXO backs all its products with a satisfaction warranty, and will replace or refund any returned item. --Ann Bieri

1 out of 5 stars Not so good   February 27, 2008
Pennsylvania Shopper (PA)
I purchased this spoon and the turner. The turner is fine. I used it a few times when cooking - even frying and using a tagine. But the spoon split the second time I used it. I've had spoons from C&B or WS and they have worked fine. I liked this one because of the handle. Well, that's good money down the drain.

4 out of 5 stars Great spoon for everyday   January 25, 2008

This is a nice solid spoon for every day use. I see reviews saying it splits in two pieces, I think OXO may have changed the design; this spoon is one solid piece of wood. (And very solid at that). Mine arrived with a slight chip in the bowl of the spoon, but not bad enough to return it.

4 out of 5 stars It's a spoon.   November 6, 2007

Order this as a replacement. Decent quality one would expect from an OXO utensil.

3 out of 5 stars Started Out Great   August 9, 2007

I really enjoyed using this spoon for the first 2 weeks or so. Then it cracked and I was very unhappy. It seems so substantial and sturdy. I'm still using it because it's not unuseable yet, but it will get to that point in a few weeks, I bet. Then I'll have to throw it away and start the search for a better spoon.
