Designed in the early 1960s, Old Country Roses is one of the most popular tableware patterns in the world, appealing to home entertainers throughout the generations. This tableware's vintage style comes from much earlier than the '60s and is more reminiscent of heirloom china patterns that grandmother--or great-grandmother-may have owned at the turn of the century. This tiny 10-by-5-1/2-inch tray carries the coordinating sugar bowl and creamer to the table to serve with tea or coffee after formal dinners. A 1/2-inch rim keeps serving pieces from sliding and shaped handles at either end assist hostesses with carrying. The tray's interior bears the signature English roses that the pattern is named for in shades of gold and magenta on a milky white background. For additional charm, the tray's scalloped edges are trimmed in 22-karat gold. Old Country Roses tableware is made of bone china--fine china that has had bone ash added to the clay to produce a true white color--which is considered the strongest and most prestigious type due to its eighteenth century English origins.
