Crafted by Corelle for their Livingware line, the tableware set endures the tests of time while striking a nostalgic note with its classic red-and-white pattern. With service for four, each setting includes a 10-1/4-inch dinner plate, a 6-3/4-inch bread-and-butter plate, an 18-ounce soup bowl, and an 11-ounce stoneware mug. To construct Livingware tableware, Corelle thermally compresses three layers of glass, producing a vitrelle glass composition that is lighter than other dishware, but more durable than conventional glass. The tableware resists cracks and chips with great success, while the lamination compression process combats stains, scratches, and fading. The user-friendly plates and bowls are dishwasher- and microwave- safe and warm food in conventional ovens up to 350 degrees F. The mugs, however, find safe use in the microwave only. For the best care, avoid soaking stoneware mugs for prolonged periods of time. Corelle discourages the use of abrasives or scouring on these pieces. We bought these for our boat. Paper plates didn't work so well. Plastic wasn't so great either. These dishes were just the answer. They look nice, have the feeling of china, but are very hard to break. The only down side is that they are a little on the small side.

I really like the sturdiness of corelle. It's lightweight yet durable. I've used it many years. I had been hunting for this style (classic cafe red) for a year and found it at Amazon. I had it shipped free and am delighted with it.

Corelle Livingware is an excellent product. Lightweight and holds its color for years. If dropped from a high place, it will shatter but it is very durable. Looks good for everyday and for special occasions. I had Corelle dinnerware 30 years ago when the avacodo pattern was in high style and I always loved it. It never wears out. Bought this as a gift for my daughter and her family and they love it. I have the set with the blue and green outer circle. Still my fav dinnerware. I highly recommend this set.

Like many others here, I grew up with Corelle (my grandmother still has her original sets that she's used daily in a house with 12 kids, and they show no signs of wear.) so when it came time for me to move out on my own, I picked this pattern to go with my 50's diner motif. They are perfect for that. And when I moved again (and had to leave these behind) I bought 2 more sets as soon as I was settled in. You simply aren't going to find nicer, more durable dishes anywhere. Even if you don't choose this pattern, stick with Corelle. They are THE BEST.
