| Editorial Reviews:
Amazon.com On the deliriously satisfying In Rainbows, Radiohead returns to a more straight-ahead (though subdued) rock sound. Much hubbub has been made about this record's innovative release. Radiohead allowed fans to pay what they wished to download fairly low-resolution tracks from the band's own website. Like so many innovations, it already seems funny both that it was such big news and that someone else of similar stature hadn't done it sooner. Some pundits were appalled that it took awhile to download the tracks if you tried to do it at the same time as thousands of other people, while others decried that the group was trying to kill the music industry (or save it). Little of the press seemed to focus on the record itself, which actually made sense because it was so entertaining and inviting, the most low-key album Radiohead has made to date. There's even a very straight-forward, simple, silly little love song, "House of Cards." It might be a bit lethargic, but the simple instrumentation of electric guitars, bass, and drums is lovely as heck. A handful of these tunes enchanted fans for years before finally being committed to computer "tape." This is particularly fitting as In Rainbows is the group's most "band"-sounding album since OK Computer. This is not a record that hits you over the head with how far this group is pushing the envelope; it's simply a phenomenal, well-crafted, and exciting album. As soon as it's done, you're playing it again. --Mike McGonigal

great album Radiohead goes indie August 22, 2008 Gordon Thomas (New York) To all those that don't like this new album, they can suck it up and deal with it. I personally love this album. They decided to do something that, in some ways, was very different. I applaude them for that. I love all the tracks on here and I even bought a copy for my uncle so he could listen to Radiohead. As far as if that was the best album for him to start listening to Radiohead I don't know.Radiohead- In Rainbows (Guitar Tablature)
A Perfect Album August 19, 2008 adewitte (Brevard, NC) I think it's been said all before in the other reviews, but I'll say it anyhow. This album is just one of those bits of perfect music, put together in a way that flows and ebbs in order to keep you hooked. And hooked you will remain! From the hard-hitting electronica of "15 Step" to the haunting piano and lyrics from "Videotape". It's my favorite Radiohead album by far and one that should be listened to and relished by anyone interested in either Radiohead or just good music.
Tried & True, but also tired and trite August 1, 2008 Y-Loc (Lalaland) 1 out of 5 found this review helpful
Yawn...... yeah sure it's them, it's Radiohead, but really, I was really hoping for a complete jump forward from the sounds of their lasy few years and do something that would really make us open our eyes, like they did when they made that massive jump from The Bends, to OK Computer, to Kid A, to Amnesiac. It's well produced, has some good sounds, but it blends too much with the rest of it to make it not as distinct nor as interesting.
The definition of perfection. July 27, 2008 Justin C. Malmberg (Ladue, Mo) 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
Radiohead is my favorite band...not the best way to start out a review, I know, because you're thinking most likely it's going to be horribly biased....BUT....I'm a really big fan of music. I eat, sleep, drink, breathe it and this by definition is what I'm looking for in an album. I got it for like $1 digitally, then bought it when it came out. Listen to the whole thing from start to finish on a regular basis and you will be a better person...I promise. :) But, for real, good job Thom & the boys. See you at Lollapalooza next weekend...I can't wait!!!!!
My favorite, so far July 26, 2008 javajeff (Florida) 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
I bought In Rainbows first, so it was my introduction to Radiohead. Since the purchase, I have been buying their other CDs or MP3s. While I think all the albums are great, this one is still my favorite out of OK Computer, Hail to the Thief, The Bends, and Kid A. Kid A is possibly my second favorite. I think both of those albums are getting bad reviews, because people have favorites like The Bends or OK Computer, and they were expecting the same music. There is no reason why anyone should skip this CD. If you like Radiohead, this one is really a stellar choice. I am really listening to all their CDs at the same time, since I am just getting into them. They are right up my ally since I like Pink Floyd and alternative music.
