Editorial Reviews:

Product Description
The Digital Concepts 52mm Macro Filter Kit includes four close-up diopters at +1, +2, +4 and +10 magnification, and a durable carrying case. These filters simply screw onto the front of any 52mm lens, and will maintain resolution and picture clarity while magnifying image size. Plus, these filters are double-threaded, which means you can combine them to achieve increased magnification, or you can attach additional optics such as polarizers or skylight filters. These macro filters are ideal for photographing small items and focusing in on details of coins, flowers, jewelry and insects, as well as industrial photos of miniaturized components, medical and dental laboratory work and other scientific photography.

4 out of 5 stars Does as Spec'd   July 13, 2010
christopher j castle (beavercreek, oh United States)
As most who have purchased these macro filters, I bought them to get a cheap entry into macro photography, to give it a try before purchasing an expensive macro lens. I jumped right to the +10 as that was where I expected to have issues. Once I learned how to use it, I had no problems, auto focus worked, and I am pleased with the quality.

One thing people will note about macro photography is that the focal plane is very tight. Use a high f stop and get as parallel to the subject as possible and you'll get great shots.

Giving four stars instead of five because I had a bit of an issue with the threads. For some reason, and it could have been the fault of the UV filter, it wouldn't thread easily.

5 out of 5 stars Solid option for those not wanting to spend a lot for a macro lens   June 25, 2010
Ben Schultz
I didn't know what to expect with these lenses, because they were so inexpensive. When I stack all of the lenses on my 18-55mm Nikon kit lens, I am able to focus so close to my target that I block most of the light. So, I need to start looking for a macro flash. Thanks a lot! You end up costing me more money...

2 out of 5 stars Works okay outside...   June 4, 2010
L. Fischer
They work okay outside, but I was looking for those to take close-up pictures of small items for online sales (like jewelery.) Increases the need for light by a ridiculous amount for a *filter*, and it makes you stand all the way across the room to take the picture with the 2x, and you basically can't focus inside with the 4x, 10x on a D40's standard 18-55mm kit lens.

Save yourself the twenty dollars wasted on this bum item and buy a 50mm prime lens instead if you want to take indoor shots.

If you're going to go outside and shoot far away animals it works, but it's especially harsh on blacks. I don't think any of my blacks came out without a significant amount of noise.

4 out of 5 stars DECENT   April 28, 2010
Let's Ride the SS Cartagena (FL)
You get what you pay for. Pricewise, these are a wonderful value. However, the quality isn't too great. When you just use one filter at a time it is acceptable but when you use multiple filters there is a lot of chromatic aberration. Also, I have found that these filters lesson the sharpness of an image. Other than that, these are pretty decent filters and I have been able to get pretty good results. I posted a few pics. Mine are the one with a caption explaining the photos were done with a Powershot sx20is and are unedited for your benefit. Take a look and judge the image quality for yourself.

5 out of 5 stars Good Filters   April 18, 2010

They worked marvelously, and at an unbelievable price. Good job, I really like them. And they were delivered quickly.
